Why Accurate Records Matter
Our screening process is a little more rigorous than what some drivers are used to. That’s not because we’re sticklers for rules. It’s because we’ve been building this business for 55 years, and we plan to be around for 55 more.
We’re known for having drivers who stay long-term, and we invest heavily in their training and safety. So, before we do that, we want to know exactly who we’re bringing on board.
That’s why we ask for detailed employment and driving history. It’s not about paperwork. It’s about starting our relationship off on the right foot.
What We Check: No Smoke and Mirrors
When you start the recruitment process with Modular, we verify all the documents that the Department of Transportation (DOT) requires. If things don’t line up, it puts the company, and every driver at risk. So we don’t cut corners there.
Every applicant goes through the same review process, including:
- Employment history verification: We’ll ask for contact details to confirm past roles, and we’ll want to hear your side of the story for any short stints.
- Motor Vehicle Records (MVR): To review your driving history and violations.
- Pre-Employment Screening Program (PSP) reports: These include DOT-recordable accidents from the past five years and inspection history from the past three years. It’s nothing secret. You can request a copy yourself through the FMCSA website.
- Medical certificates
- Drug and alcohol testing records
- Road test and training records
The Driver Behind The Resume
We understand why some drivers leave things out. Truck driving is a tough industry and we’re used to seeing resumes filled with short employment and job hopping. Life happens.
That’s why we don’t rely on forms alone. We take the time to talk things through. The pattern of your driving history is more important than one black mark on your record.
But, honesty goes a long way here. We tell you upfront what we’ll be checking so you can be prepared for our process. Catching you by surprise isn’t our goal here.
Our recruiters regularly spend an hour or more on the phone with candidates, asking questions and answering yours. Hearing your side of the story is just as essential as having the dates written on a page.
Keeping You Safe On The Road: In-House Training
Every new driver goes through the same paid in-house training and, if needed, on-the-road training. Our safety and training team includes experienced Class A drivers who know the job inside and out.
It’s a serious investment and we’re willing to make it. But only for drivers who are committed to doing things right and building a long-term career.
Nicole says it best: “The scary drivers are the ones who think they know everything”. Drivers who are upfront, willing to learn, and open about their history tend to do well here.
An Honest Conversation
Accurate employment history protects everyone: drivers, the public, and the company.
It helps us keep our standards high, our training strong, and our drivers safe.
That’s how we’ve built a company where people stay. And that’s how we plan to keep it that way.
